USPA NEWS - AP Rashtra Vikalangula Seva Samiti’s Founding President Chelo Mahendra criticized the state government and bureaucracy for their continued failure to address the grievances of Dalits. Speaking at the ongoing hunger strike in Kadapa, he demanded immediate intervention to resolve the 15-day-long land struggle by Dalit residents.

“The bureaucracy and ruling government are indifferent to the suffering of Dalits. They must correct their approach and ensure justice,” Mahendra stated.
State Apathy Towards Dalit Issues Deeply Alarming
Chelo Mahendra inaugurated the 15th day of the hunger strike organized by the Dalit Tribal Rights Struggle Association at the Kadapa RDO office. He expressed disappointment at the lack of awareness and action by officials and public representatives regarding the injustice being faced by Dalits.
Dalit Leaders In Power Have Not Responded
Despite the presence of numerous Dalit and tribal representatives in high offices, Mahendra said none have taken serious interest in the land struggles and daily hardships of the community.

“Dalits continue to roam government offices, police stations, and courts without resolution. Their voices remain unheard,” he said.
Encroachment On Disputed Land Raises Questions
Mahendra questioned how a person who allegedly holds no official documentation—could encroach on Dalit land that is under legal dispute and begin agricultural activities.

“How can officials allow tree planting and cultivation on land that’s still in court? The negligence is shocking,” he added.

He called on officials to shed their indifference and address the demands of the protesting Dalits from old Kadapa, who have been staging a relay hunger strike for over two weeks to reclaim their rightful land.

“End the false disability of the administration and deliver justice to the people,” Mahendra urged.
Participants In The Hunger Strike
Those participating in the hunger strike included Bala Chennayya, Shankarayya, Venkateshwarlu, Obulesu, Diwakar, and Venkatesh, along with honorary district president of the association Madagalam Prasad, Venkatasubbayya, Balakrishna, Chinna Subbayya, Palamma, and several others who reiterated their commitment to continue the protest until justice is served.
